Purple Hues..

This look is inspired from Marni where the key makeup artist was one of my favorites, Monsieur Tom Pecheux. Its all about a luminous complexion and easy chic. The makeup should be effortless and still make a statement.

Let's see what we need to do;

To add luminosity doesn't mean you have to put too much of shimmer or glitter and end up looking like a disco ball. Its all about playing with light. So the key role is of optical diffusers. One must always use a sunscreen (even in rains) and an oil free sunscreen does an amazing job for your makeup to stay put. I love Clinique's Solar Smart SPF 30 INR 1100 or even 50 if you are that sun exposed or love higher sunscreens. This sunscreen goes absolutely invisible on your skin and is perspiration resistant and long wearing. Apply sunscreen all over the face and also your ears and neck. In case you have a problem skin a makeup primer is advisable. Dot on an oil free primer like MUFE HD primer INR 1770 for the first step towards getting a flawless perfection. The foundation is super sheer and dewy but I have a trick that will help oilier complexions look dewy too. Mix a dot of primer into your favorite light weight foundation, I suggest Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua INR 2700 and apply with a foundation brush blending with fingers wherever necessary. The light diffusing pigments in the foundation will give you that no makeup look effect. Use a thin concealer like MAC's Select coverup INR 1000 in a shade closer to you and blend with a fluffy brush like MAC 217 or my favorite Clinique's large shader brush. Dot on some powder only if required and if you're in hot sun. Powder tends to mattify the complexion and that doesn't add luminosity. You can also mattify just the T zone.

Eyes exude drama but without being dramatic. For this we use an array of textures and layering of different products. Start with a clear eyeshadow base like the one from Elizabeth Arden INR 970. You can use concealer to hide any discolorations and put eye base over that. Start with a rich black eye pencil like MAC's Smolder INR 970 that is soft and a bit smudgy. Blend with MAC 217 keeping it close to lash line and on the lids. Blend a plum purple eye pencil like Bourjois Smokey Effect in Dark Purple INR 275 or Clinique's quick liner for eyes in Grape INR 990. Again smudge but upto the crease this time. Layer soft matte to soft shimmer eyeshadows like MAC's Nocturnelle, Fig 1, Hepcat or reddish purple eyeshadows from cheaper brands like Inglot and blend. On the lower lid apply thin layer of eyeshadow and then trace the lids with a carbon black pencil. Use a lengthening mascara like Clinique's Lash Power mascara in Black Onyx.

Dust a soft plummy purple blush like MAC's Plumfoolery and Coygirl INR 1080. The blush must be on the cooler side to give that much needed pop of color yet subtle effect.

For the subtle nude lip apply some foundation on the lips (in your color) and then smooth out with a hint of Estee Lauder Pure Color Lipgloss INR 1450 in Opulent Opal.

Try the look and let me know.

Till then,
