The Makeup Story : Look 1 Tutorial

This is the first look that I did for the photoshoot. It was inspired from innocent mermaids or fresh water nymphs with colors taken from the ocean. The glitter adds a beautiful dimension to the look making it more ethereal and supernatural.

This look can be done outside also with the colors limiting to the lid and not going beyond that. Keep the rest of the face clean and glowing to match the vivid eye colors

Lets see how to do the look..............

  • Begin with priming the skin. Choose a correcting primer in case of redness and stipple it with a flat kabuki brush.
  • Start applying the foundation from the centre of the face diffusing it outwards and down wards with the same stippling brush. I prefer applying a light reflective foundation as it gives a lit from within glow to the skin.
  • Conceal sparingly and use light reflective concealer to illuminate the eye area.
  • Dust loose powder sparingly. I chose a semi matte finish to keep the skin looking silky.
  • Frame the brows by filling in with a soft brown eyeshadow. Brows were meant to be kept natural and quite bushy than strong. Using a brow gel to set them can give a harsh look so I just filled in the color and brushed them to set.
  • Apply an eye primer to keep the shadows stay put and resist creasing.
  • I began framing the crease with a bright matte orange and created the shape of the eyes applying the eyeshadow till the mid way only on the upper lids.
  • Then I began with a matte neon yellow from the inner corners and applied midway on the upper lid blending it into the orange. On the lower lids I applied it in the inner corners.
  • Then starting from the brow bone (half way) I blended cobalt blue which I further amplified with some turquoise shimmer (loose pigment).
  • From the middle of the lower lid upto the temple I blended shimmery grass green eyeshadow.
  • With a fan brush applied silvery pink shimmer loosely on the temples. Applied glitter sealer on the eyes and then dabbed some golden glitter in the inner corners and inner third of the upper lid.
  • Curled the lashes and coated with 2 coats of volumizing mascara. Combed through the lashes to add definition.
  • For the blush, I used a soft matte bronze for subtle contours and then topped it with a light dusting of shimmery opalascent pink mixed with beige-y peach on the heights of the cheeks. Used the same shimmer to highlight the rest of the face.
  • For lips, I used some foundation on them first. Then applied a lovely coral colored lipbalm and topped it with a super shimmery golden pink lipgloss for a wet lip.
