Dirty Purples!!

Purple like many colors is very versatile. When mixed with browns and black, certain shades are created that would have nuances of purples and looks glamorous. This look is not using pure hues of purple but colors that have a smidgen of purple in them. This post may remind people of Vidya Balan's Dirty Picture, but the look is not inspired by her.

This is an ultra glamorous look that could be worn over any attire and still amplify the look. What I love is that that taupe purple eyeshadow creates a mysterious halo around the eyes and the shimmer play with light correctly and nicely.

Btw I have used my favorite BH cosmetics 120 eyeshadow palette in 4th edition to do this look. I wonder whether this is a 'drug store' brand but I guess it solves the question of someone saying that I dont use drugstore brands to 'show-off'....LOL
Btw for anyone who may know, I am in the process of trying the Maybelline Dream Mousse liquid foundation for photoshoots and if it succeeds it would be my next HG foundation till I don't get bored.

Anyways, lets get to the look...........

I have used the colors marked with an asterisk to do this look. Now a days this palette is being extensively used for photoshoots so I may not feature looks from this until I get hands on my other kit which is in the Mumbai house.

Begin with concealing the eye area to eliminate any darkness. Do not forget to apply concealer in the inner corners as that area stands out in the camera especially when left blank.

Prime the eyes and also define the brows. I have used a shimmery charcoal color mixed with a dark red brown from the same BH cosmetics palette to add glam to the brows too. (This is optional though)

Apply a warm medium brown shimmer eyeshadow in the crease to create a stencil. This enables better placement of the eyeshadows.

Highlight the brow bone and inner corners of the eyes with a shimmery beige with a mauve undertone. This eyeshadow is quite complex and may not be seen in any brand per se.

Line the upper lash line with L'Oreal Contour Khol pencil in Jet Black. The drier texture and intense color of this pencil helps the look pull better.

Smudge the pencil with a small brush and then apply a dirty dark brown-taupey-purple eyeshadow in the outer corners and blend into the crease. Keep it quite dark by stamping and blending the eyeshadow. I would advice to layer it at the best.

Apply a taupe-y mauve ultra shimmery eyeshadow on the middle of the lid (bulge of the eye ball) to catch light. This color is very sophisticated and look very lovely.

Smoke the colors on the lower lids too. I call it creating a reflection. Apply the taupe mauve eyeshadow on the lower middle third of the lid to catch light. I love this intense shimmer. The color is similar to MAC Pigment in Mauvement.

To intensify the color even more I have applied another layer of the taupe-y mauve eyeshadow using a damp brush (brush sprayed with some MAC Fix+). You can appreciate the high shimmer content of this look. The light reflecting particles (mica) are really coarse in these type of eyeshadows.

Line the inner rims with the same eye pencil. I have also tight lined the upper lash line to create an intense smoldering contrast to the ultra-reflective shimmers.

Curl lashes with eye lash curler and apply several coats of intense black MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara. This helps maintaining definition in high shine and shimmer happening all around the place.

This is the final look. I prefer keeping the rest of the face matte so that eyes do the speaking and would love to pair it with mauve tones to keep the look more or less monochromatic.

For a certain gossip b**ch I am marking the drugstore brands in 'Bold' so that they know that some serious business and efforts are taken. I dont have to prove somethings to anyone but this post may mention it. Btw the other drug store brands apart from Maybelline and Faces that I know of are Revlon, Chambor, Rimmel, Bourjois, Max Factor, Be Yu and NYX. I hope there are no questions arising from it.
This is an amazing evening look that could go with any sort of dresses though I would advice pairing it with a LBD or something in beiges or brown. The high shine and shimmer on the eyes would amplify mundane attires.

Hope you enjoy the look.

Till then,

Ciao
