Metal Bate!

Sultry metallic makeup and spring summer may be polar opposites during the day but champagnes with golds and bronzes help break the rule. This Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette 2 inspired easy Spring Summer 2012 look adds a metallic touch to brighten up the day.

A metallic eye a la Kim Kardashian demands super long lashes (mine are real but you can fake yours if needed) and spice up your day at a brunch or an occasion. I would advice serious dressing down as this look can cause faux pas if done incorrectly though....

Lets see how to get this look.........

I used the famed Urban Decay Naked 2 palette to do this look. The colors marked with stars have been used. I did not use any dark color in the look to keep it modern and glowing.

\

Conceal under eyes and use an eye primer over the lids. Please ignore the small hair that you see on my eyes. Cookie has forgiven me for that being his summer shedding time.

Apply UD eyeshadow in Bootycall on the brow bone and also highlight the inner corners of the eyes. I used a medium shader flat brush to apply color for precision and not let the shadow seep where its not wanted.

Apply a grey taupe colored eyeshadow called Tease in the crease and blend to define it. This has a bit of coolness to stabilize the heat of the molten metal shadows.

Apply YDK on the outer half of the lid and also in the crease. Also groom the brows and tame the stray hair with a brow gel.

Apply Chopper eyeshadow on the upper and lower lid. On the outer corners of the lower lid apply YDK and blend the color.

Coppery golden shimmery Chopper eyeshadow goes on the inner half of the lid. Now you see why I put a taupe grey in the crease to balance the molten heat of these metallics.

Curl lashes and finish with several coats of dramatic mascara like Revlon Grow Luscious to create actually fluffy lashes and spider legs. I do admit that I have long thin lashes but with mascara being strategically applied I have used it to tightline the upper lid. This creates an illusion of luscious lashes over the shimmer back ground eyeshadow.

I suggest using a cheek stain or creamy blush to get a surreal glow and finish off with a glossy lip tint preferably in reds or pinks and not peaches. I mixed Shiseido Accentuating sticks in Rouge flush and Rose flush to create this effect.

  5. This is a lovely look Neeraj, and I personally feel comfortable wearinf warm eye makeup on any occasion because it goes with our warm skin tones.
If you would excuse me for digressing, like you , I have seen many makeup artists using Clinique Super Balanced foundation. Could you give an idea what could be the closest shade to MAC NC 41 skintone? ( I have warm undertone)

    1. I love Superbalanced makeup. U should see 05 Vanilla or 06 Linen or 36 Beige chiffon. They mostly have neutral tones so look very flattering. I would advice u to get tested in the store though.

Thanks a lot for liking the look.

    1. Thanks Riddhi. U should always use a good coverage concealer like Shiseido Natural finish creamy concealer in a shade matching the color of ur cheeks and buff it in with mac 217 brush. Then use a paint pot of similar color as primer and then use these colors. Loreal infallible eyeshadows are perfect too!!

  12. U should go with mac then. I love some classic mac colors like Woodwinked, tempting, bronze, amberlights, folie, nylon, wedge, cork, espresso, browndown, ricepaper and gleam as some amazing browns and metallics.
