The beauty shot is all about natural glowing skin and beautifully framed eyes. Since the model had a lovely honey toned skin, the makeup done was warm with subtle facial highlights. Its an enhancement of the model's natural beauty.

Illamasqua presents : - The Naked Strangers

Illamasqua, for their Summer 2012 presents The NAKED STRANGERS...

A place where alter egos are laid bare and naked flesh is a source of unashamed inspiration. In this delicate tipping point between intimacy and pleasurable detachment, we revel in the unknown; exploring the distance between pure Monogamous, gilded Faithful and uninhibited Swinger. Exposed nude tones, adorned with rich licks of gold, leave you gasping for more. Don’t restrain yourself. Unless, of course, you enjoy it.

“Naked Strangers captures inner glows and depths. The deeply and darkly alluring exists alongside ethereal shimmering brilliance. We are complex and multifaceted whilst also being naked to the world.”
Alex Box, Illamasqua Creative Director.

“Naked Strangers represents everything about borderlines...the human edge between romance and permissive intimacy...a step beyond control, a step past the edge and a collection of gilded moments upon the tip of sensation. Beautiful nudes with metallic edge set amongst eclectic textures.”
David Horne, Illamasqua Director of Product Development.

Easy Summer Duets : - Lava Rocks

For my send post on Easy Summer Duets, ( you can see Camel and Camellia here) I was inspired by molten lava and the rocks that are singed under this hot bubbling fluid purged from the earth's core. I have used a combination of a matte blackened blackcurrant eyeshadow paired with one of the most sought after and overrated eyeshadows of the beauty world (shall tell the name soon though people will guess looking at the color itself.)

Easy Summer duets are looks done using only 2 eyeshadows. For striking effects I prefer using contrasting colors but that is not the hard and fast rule of these looks. Its just to make the beauty world a bit easy and breathable and take a holiday from dramatic looks. Its a fun way for starters and is not heavy on pocket.

So lets see, how to do this look......

The Cyber Party

The 'future of makeup' inspires me. Films like Robot and 2050 (whatever) or space-age films like Starwars and all have always enticed me and I usd to love the themes of different characters in these movies and series. Their futuristic makeup is what kept me enthralled the most.
The theme of today's post is a robot woman who is partying and socializing and having a blast. She's painting the electronic circuits red..The look is also inspired by 60s and 70s disco and one of the collections of Gucci by Pat Mcgrath.

Btw, please ignore the small baby lashes that you can see. I have been having a tough time getting mascara on them and they just go wobbly and lopsided all the time.
Anyways, lets see how to do this look.....

Through the Mermaid's eyes!

Sometimes its fun to push the boundaries of makeup and create some lovely makeups. Unfortunately I am not so beautiful to put my entire face (LOL) and my expertise and talents ends up only with the eye makeup.
Today's makeup is inspired by mermaids and aquatic flora fauna. The life under the ocean is very colorful and beautiful and even if mermaids are imaginary, they represent the Poseidon's domain and culture very beautifully.

Purples and teals are truly aquatic and there's no better way to pair these colors together than this. Of course, this look can be wearable if the green mascara is substituted with black and the teal is restricted to the lower lids.  If you don't find this makeup scary and have the guts to sport it, please feel free to flaunt it for a party or at the pub.

So lets see, how to do this mermaid inspired makeup......

Easy Summer Duets :- Camel and Camellia!

I have had many clients, readers and friends asking on how to use just 2 colors and still pull in a nice and dramatic makeup look? Its actually easy and fun. My idea is to use contrasting colors and create a makeup look without too much of an effort.

It is quite easy and quick to do and still gives a good impact on the entire makeup. In the easy summer duet series I would be doing some of these 2 eyeshadow looks. And here I present Camel and Camellia, where a dirty ochre color of a desert summer meets with a bright fuchsia of the uber beautiful camellia flower. Using a light reflective pink and a softly shimmered ochre as a combination looks enticing.

Camellia flower (For color reference)

What I loved is the simplicity and yet how bright this makeup can be! So lets see, how to do this look.

Penciled in!

Seriously I feel at times that hauling of products and bragging about them on the blog is really a waste of time. What is the fun in showing off what you have? After this post, my perception changed a bit.
I went on this huge shopping spree and got some amazing products although I did not really want to talk about a lot of them. I am featuring just a small part of the amazing things I picked up, keeping the rest for posts and miscellaneous stuff.

I had a lost-and-found moment with my eye pencil pouch at a photographer's place. I was so worried and angry, that I went and splurged on these eye pencils before I got the news that my pencil pouch was in the studio. Anyways I loved the textures and formulas and some of these pencils are simply amazing. I must stress on the fact that this is a haul-cum-review post and I am not really stressing on just one product but writing 7 in one post.

Btw I bought all of these..

Lets have a look at what I ended up with.....

Massage and Mirth Series 1 - Random Facts of Realization

'Stress' has a very vital role in human life. For us, Stress is like Oxygen, always there and always wanted and without which we cannot work. Followed by an unhealthy lifestyle, irregular eating habits, smoking, alcoholism and everything what we consider good (like excessive amounts of milky tea and coffee, burger and all) can cause a plethora of problems and trigger concern areas in the body. We know this, but our lifestyle does not permit us to take important measures to curb it or cure such situations of Stress.

The result of all this is accumulation of toxins. These toxins could come from;

  • High amounts of saturated fat that we consume
  • Overdose of fatty non vegetarian food
  • Overeating of refined sugar as opposed to natural sugars
  • Excessive alcoholism enough to cause Liver Impairment
  • Smoking - that releases thousands of toxic waste and tar into our bodies. And not necessarily you have to be an ACTIVE one. PASSIVE one is much more harmed.
  • Artificial agents in foods, like preservatives and colorants and even pesticides in their ppm (parts per million doses)
  • Less consumption of raw food like fruits and salads.
So many vices and the list is endless. So the outcome is accumulation of toxins. We do not talk about detoxification methods in this post though. Anyways, our lovely LIVER is a huge powerhouse of detoxification and saves us from many poisons in our day to day lives. When gone wrong and exploitation of Liver with sluggish metabolism leads to accumulation of toxic waste in our body and face. A facial or a massage helps gets rid of those. (we will learn how subsequently).

The art of facial or massage is a gift of the EAST. It has although been tampered and modified to suit our needs by the WEST but its origin is here. Ancient Ayurveda talks about pampering the face and body with essential oils, vegetables and fruits that are applied externally to give fantastic results internally. Traditional Chinese Medicine talks about an even deeper thought of the body process and how FACE mirrors the ailments of the body. Japan and Korea talk about various ways of removal of toxic waste from its depots in between muscles and under the skin through the art of massaging. The French put in their insight on softer and gentle techniques to stimulate the skin and facilitate detoxification. This could be summing up the history of massage in a paragraph but I must say that there are millions of books written on this and are in my must reads list.

So lets see what are we reading in this post........

Announcement!

Hi All,

I have a lovely announcement to make. Many of you may not know this thats why I am actually writing a separate announcement post for this. I have been certified in esthetics and have started doing some amazing facials for very few selected A list clients. Getting inspired from that I thought of having some random posts on DIY home facials, what to do in a facial, doing your own facial massage etc.

What I can talk about my skin facials is that its not the regular one you'd end up getting in a salon or a parlor. It is a fusion technique inspired from the French, German, Chinese and Japanese ways of doing facial massages. The series I am going to talk about would include...

  • Gentle penetration of active ingredients in the skin
  • DIY facial massages
  • Lifting techniques for collagen production
  • Oxygenation of the tissues
  • Skin brightening
  • Bone and muscle massage
  • Acupressure on meridian points
  • Manual Lymphatic drainage
I have been inspired to write a series of these posts and get lovely feedbacks from you on this. Meanwhile when these posts are in construction phase, I would invite all my amazing friends and readers to ask questions on skin care and cosmetics which I could answer in a small section at the end of each skin care post.

Hope you liked the idea. Although please pardon me on the delay in posting as I would be busy with assignments.

Till then,

Ciao

Summer Party!

I must say, it isnt as easy to gain access to the internet these days and with so many things to do, life is getting better but harder and busier. In this post I wanted to get back to the burst of colors I am famous for and create wonderful combinations of colors apt for Summers. This post is all about using several MAC brights I have and is a fun to do for a summer party.

Imagine wearing colorful cruise wear and lounging and relaxing under a shade in this scorching summer heat and sipping chilled watermelon juice. This is the makeup apt for such an occasion but cool enough to work for a late night pub or anything that you would like to do. Just carry it off with elan

So lets see, how to do this look!

Quicky Cocoa with Clinique!

Even more sincere and heartfelt apologies for not updating my blog. I have been caught with a lot of work and lots of things falling into the basket right now. Meanwhile with no internet access, things aren't very easy too.

Anyways since I am in my hometown today, I could conjure another tutorial which is simple and yet strong and effective.

I have used a lovely palette from Clinique, called Pink Chocolate to do this look. It is a very chic user-friendly palette with colors that flatter all. I like it for its ability to get the most beautifully natural looks.

So lets see how to do this look.......
