Summer duet : Coral Crush!!

For the last runner in the Summer Duet series (which would again start next year) I wanted to apply an eyeshadow which I have never used before. I have never done a look with 'coral' eyeshadow although I have used it on eyes, especially in the crease. For the inquisitve, I have used a darker eye liner (black) so that the coral color does not make my eyes look irritated. This is a trick one must use if they are apply pinks or corals or reds on eye lids.

These colors are from the BH cosmetics 88 Tropical eyeshadow palette and although its a huge palette I stayed with my promise and used only 2 eyeshadows. (eye liner is not calculated as eyeshadow. LOL).

Although in the pictures it looks a bit pink, its still a coral eyeshadow. I was awed with the fact that how a Coral color could look pink when shot under tubelight light which is a fluorescent light. If it was sunlight, I guess the orange part would have looked obvious.

I have used 2 colors marked with star from the BH cosmetics 88 Tropical Eyeshadow palette.

Prep the lids with an eyeshadow primer. I have used Too Faced but you can use anyone that you like. It just helps the eyeshadow stay put longer and also the shimmers translate in their truer form. I would suggest Elizabeth Arden eye fix primer (its on my to-buy list)

Trace the upper and lower lash line with Bourjois Khol and Contour 16 hr eye pencil in Noir Expert

Blend it to soften the lines and also define the crease a bit. I did this with Sigma E 30 Pencil brush as the dome shaped tip gives the right precision to do so. The pencil is a blue based black and has a satiny finish.

Apply a wash of the bone-beige pearl shimmer eyeshadow on the entire lid to create a lovely pearlized highlight. Apply in concentration in the inner corners to open up the eyes. This eyeshadow needs a gentle dusting so that it has a see-through effect through the black pencil and does not make it appear grey.

With a Sigma Pencil E30 brush I drew a stencil for the placement of the coral eyeshadow. I wanted to specifically place it above the crease to create bigger eyes.

Following the curve that was made, apply a coral eyeshadow in the entire crease and outer corners of the upper lid while blending the color upto the brow bone.

Apply the same bone-beige pearl shimmer across the lower lid below the traced black line to add a lovely dimension. I do not advice applying Coral shimmer on the lower lids and smoking it up. It can look funny for a formal occasion.

Curl the lashes and apply 3-4 coats of Lancome Hypnose Precious Cells  Magnified Volume Cream mascara. After a long time I have bought this mascara and couldn't help flaunting it. Just comb through the brows and set them with a gel if required ( I didnt).

So this is the finished look. It does create lovely fluttery lashes and almond shaped eyes. The coral sparkle adds a glow to the eyes which is accentuated by the pearlized pigments in beige.
I would prefer to keep the look monochromatic with the same colored blush and lipstick. Its better to keep the rest of the face dewy and glowing or one can opt for matte options too. To keep it fresh and modern, skip the foundation and dust the blush on apples of the cheeks only. Dont contour or anything. You could drench the lips in a coral colored shine (not shimmer) or keep them strong and matte. For the bold ones, you can apply Illmasqua's teal blue lipstick called Apocalips.
