Friendship Day Dedicated Look.....Jewel, Pearl, Garnet and Jade

This is actually a Friendship Day post dedicated to my dearest friend Garnet. She looks like a fairy (trust me on this) and the post is actually inspired by the name of her and her siblings. So I present to you a post dedicated to Garnet, her sister Jewel and Pearl and her brother Jade.

I did 2 looks and I have a tutorial of the first look which I will put a little later. One small flaw in the first look is that, after layering a red eyeshadow on black, it turned into a burgundy but I hope you will not mind that. At least I wont look angry in the post. LOL

First look

Second look

I will add a detailed explanation of how to achieve this look after the jump. So lets see how to get this look inspired by Garnet and her Siblings.

I have used the famed BH cosmetics 88 shimmer eyeshadow palette to do this look. This is actually a very primitive palette and its ubiquitous. I think its the palette from their Victorian Era when they started but has some decent colors and lovely duo chromes too. Its quite a complete one with colors that are candy as well as handy. I have used the colors marked with a star. Since there is no shade like JEWEL, I preferred using a lilac-y purple to honor the name. Other shades are eponymous.

FOR FIRST LOOK :-

Apply a long wearing foundation like Rimmel 24 hour lasting foundation, some concealer like Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in place concealer and dust some powder like Clinique Blended Face Powder to do your base. You can either go dramatic with emphasis on all the three facets of makeup, eyes, lips and cheeks or tone down and concentrate only on the eyes. Since its my taste to emphasize one feature I would opt for the next one.

To keep the look toned down apply a slight dusting of Estee Lauder Signature Blush  in Pink Kiss on the cheek apples with a slick of Shiseido the Makeup lip gloss in Chianti Rose.

For eyes, I primed the lids with Urban Decay Primer potion. Then highlighted the brow bone and the inner corners with PEARL (icy white with cooler nuances) using a large fluffy flat highlighter brush. Then applied JADE (jade green with soft pearl) on the entire lid. Began applying the lighter purple on the crease to add dimensions and gauge the amount of darkness I wanted. Applied JEWEL (dark amethyst purple) on the outer corners and blended into the lilac color in the crease to give an illusion of color gradation. Then traced the upper lash line with Bourjois Khol and Contour Noir Expert pencil and drew a kitten liner. I pressed GARNET (bright satiny red) over the black pencil with a flat angled brush and also applied the same garnet color onto the lower lash lines. I had filled in the inner rims with a red lip liner but since it itched my eye already I had to stop doing such stunts. Curled the lashes and finished off with 2 coats of my favorite Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Definition mascara in Black. Combed and tamed the brows by filling them with Bourjois Sourcils pencil in Onyx to fill in the spaces.

FOR SECOND LOOK :-

The base is just as above. For creating a bolder statement, dust Clinique Blushing Blush in Precious Posy (reviewed here by Rashmi) on the cheek apples with a dusting of a soft candy pink shimmer from MAC Mineralize Grand Duo blush in Love Rock. The lips could be kept two toned if you wanted but I opted for Rimmel Lasting Lipstick in Heart Breaker instead. Two toned lip could be with Heart breaker on one lip and MAC Ruby woo on another.

In this look the color placement is easy and more like color blocking. PEARL goes as highlighter and in the inner corners. JADE on the lid. Lilac in the crease. JEWEL on the outer corners. GARNET smoked on the lower lids. Tight line the upper lids and fill in the inner rims with Estee Lauder Double Wear Pencil in Black Onyx. Curl lashes, fill and tame brows and add in Estee Lauder Double Wear mascara in Black.

Garnet is a wonderful person by heart and soul and I hope she and you all like this look.
Till then,

Ciao

I have seen everyone raving about the Mac Smoulder liner pencil for waterline. Can we invest in that one? Is it worth all the hype ??

    1. I prefer MAC technakohl in Graphblack instead. MAC Smolder is a bit overhyped for the inner rims but trust me it doesnt stay that long. I prefer the one I suggested!
