Fashion Show - Joker and the theives
When my stylist friend Shane Lonen called me for a fashion show for a college I wasn't that excited until I heard the theme. The theme was JOKER AND THE THEIVES, a drama cum fashion show based on fictional characters from Diamond Comics where the hero was Batman and all the villians surrounding him.
Within a span of 3 hrs we had to create these villians in a modern way and make them walk the ramp.
Please see after the jumpbreak for the pictures that I took from my Blackberry Torch (I forgot my camera at home).......

Midnight Aura!!!
We are familiar with the word 'Highlight'. It is used to bring any area forward and create lightness. Similarly there is a less used word and technique called 'Lowlight' where a darker color is used underneath to change and modify the effects of other colors put on it.
With a black underneath, the shadows take a mysterious turn and give an effect of an aurora when bright colors are applied. This look is inspired from John Galliano's Runways and is a very bold look mostly fit for the magazines or for people who could dare to sport it.
I have used Urban Decay's 15th Anniversary Palette to create this look because they have the perfect color in terms of highlighting and lowlighting with perfect undertones to enhance each color. This EOTD looks like fireworks burst in midnight or a midnight aurora.

With these inspirations and interplay of light, lets see how to do this makeup......

Ombre eyes : Pink to Plum Sequence
I have shot some posts on different combinations that make up the 'Ombre' effect. This is a degrade of the lighter colors fading into dark. Using the same family of colors here, I could also call it 'mono chromatic' eyes.
Taking a hue (Red in this case) and then adding a tint (white), tone (grey) and shade (black), we can achieve a spectrum of colors that look amazing and blend beautifully.
Monochromatic eyes can be done in all the possible color combinations keeping the hue same and adding different achromatic colors to create effect. I hope you like this Ombre effect. So lets see how to do this look.

Duochrome Ombre Eyes...
When I asked what 'Ombre eyes' meant, I was told that its a transition of colors from light to dark and is inspired from the hair-art. I was quite bemused with the idea as this trend was always there and yes, it just got a name. With so many people and bloggers talking about Ombre eyes all over, I wanted to do my version using duo-chrome eyeshadows from the BH cosmetics 88 Tropical shimmer eyeshadow palette.
And this is what I did. Btw, this tut was shot yesterday and took me a lot of time as I was very exhausted and sleepy. I dont know whether this is the classic Ombre eyes as it does not do so but it isn't bad to break the rule.
So lets see how to achieve this look.....

Model Makeup : Evening Bride
Photography Credits

Styling and concept by Shane Lonen
For the next concept shoot, it was about creating a beautiful bedazzling bride who does not look conventional and has some sort of aura around her. I added a coppery golden tone to the face while darkening the eyes and emphasizing the mouth. This may sound loud but it just blended well with the heavy velvet robe that she wore.
Anyways lets see how to achieve this evening bride look....

Model Makeup : The Indian Bride
When Portuguese model Alya walked in with her agent from Runway models, my mind worked towards transforming her into a glamorous diva. With her voluptuous lips and high cheek bones there were certain looks that she could carry very well. But since the theme was to create an Indian bride from a Portuguese girl things weren't as simple as I had thought of.Photograph CredentialsPhotography by Brijesh Bhindora

Brijesh was not only very supportive about creating a girl-to-be-married look but also shared some inputs and references that really made an impact. The pictures were shot in a studio and within 4 hrs we packed up and went home with the photographer being ready for post production and editing. And here are the results.
So lets see how to achieve this simple INDIAN Bride Look....(apt for Mehendi or Sangeet functions)

Beauty Explorer : Welcome SEPTEMBER!!
The time has flown so fast and no one knows or can say how? September is a month from which all the amazing festivals begin but also a month of gloom as it would be my deceased father's birthday on 8th Sept. Being torn in between waves of grief and mirth, its not going to be an easy month.
With a drought declared in Maharashtra, things aren't as easy as they used to be. The dramatic atmospheric changes and drastic changes in health have taken a toll of my work and its been a difficult job to keep up with the blog. Anyways, what's life without hindrances and obstacles and what fun would it be if life was perfect.
PLANS FOR SEPTEMBER
- I haven't shot a single tutorial since 2 weeks (I swear) and will have to do so to cope up with all the backlogs at Beauty Traveller. I am on a hunt for a very good concealer and maybe an under eye brightener to get brighter looking eyes for the tutorials. The late night sleeps and long working hours are really cumbersome.
- I have a big backlog of mascaras to review and shall do a lovely GIVEAWAY of this beautiful CLINIQUE HIGH LENGTHS MASCARA that I have purchased for the same. Will announce it soon. It seems like Rafflecopter has forgotten me so need to renew my vows with the application.
- I want to shop for lipglosses and eye liners for work and would love to take in your suggestion. I did come across some lovely stuff from NYX at dirt cheap prices and wouldn't mind blowing up some money on them if they perform well.
- Buying some Elizabeth Arden, Inglot and MAC stuff for bridals and portfolios and also a KRYOLAN Aqua color palette for a fashion show where the theme is based on Batman and the villians. The villians would be Scorpiana, Nocturna, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Cat Woman, Lady Shiva for girls and Bane, Joker, Ridler, Two Face, Mr. Freeze and The Batman himself. If the characters come out well and nice, I would post them on the blog too.
Do keep reading.
Till then,
Ciao
