Model Makeup : The Indian Bride

When Portuguese model Alya walked in with her agent from Runway models, my mind worked towards transforming her into a glamorous diva. With her voluptuous lips and high cheek bones there were certain looks that she could carry very well. But since the theme was to create an Indian bride from a Portuguese girl things weren't as simple as I had thought of.

Brijesh was not only very supportive about creating a girl-to-be-married look but also shared some inputs and references that really made an impact. The pictures were shot in a studio and within 4 hrs we packed up and went home with the photographer being ready for post production and editing. And here are the results.

So lets see how to achieve this simple INDIAN Bride Look....(apt for Mehendi or Sangeet functions)

The look had the following salient features ;

  1. A surreal looking complexion which looked polished and healthy
  2. Soft smokey bedazzling eyes
  3. High contoured cheeks with a bit of flush
  4. Nude supermodel like lips
This is how I achieved the look -
  • I prepared Alya's skin by cleansing it with Clarins One Step Cleanser and used a Clarins Toner with Chamomile to soothe Alya's skin. Estee Lauder Nutritious Hydrating Cream added the required hydration and NARS Pro Prime SPF 21 primer added the required suppleness in the skin.
  • Although Alya was NC 25 according to MAC, I warmed up her skin by using a slightly darker and more yellow Shiseido Dual Balancing Foundation in O40. To hide her under eye darkness I applied Clinique Line Smoothing Concealer in #4 which I dabbed with my fingers and blended it all over where needed.
  • A subtle dusting of Kryolan Translucent Powder in TL4 (yellow powder) on the T zone helped fix the foundation.
  • I used Stila highlighter and contour palette to contour Alya's already chiseled cheek bones and jaw line. Used a bit of contouring powder on the sides of her nose to slim down (she insisted).
  • On the cheek bones I dusted MAC Mineralize Blush in GENTLE to add some flush. Then used Shiseido Accentuating Stick in Glistening Flush to highlight key areas of the face where the camera flash light would hit and reflect to add a dewy touch. Since this was a photography with controlled lighting I did not keep the complexion matte which I would have done normally.
  • For eyes, I primed the lids with NARS Pro Prime Smudgeproof eyeshadow base. Then mattified the lid further with Clarins Single eyeshadow in Vanilla Beige to create a perfected canvas.
  • On the outer corners I applied Clarins Single eyeshadow in Midnight Black to create a stencil. Blended the color further in the crease and added a bit of depth with MAC Mothbrown eyeshadow.
  • Highlighted the brow bone and inner corners with MAC eyeshadow in Shoreleave.
  • On the lid to create a soft gold finish I used MAC Mineralize Eyeshadow in Natural Flare which has some soft and nice golds.
  • In the inner rims I applied my favorite Bourjois Khol and Contour eye liner pencil in Ultra-black. Smudged it with MAC Browndown eyeshadow
  • Curled the lashes with Shiseido Eye lash curler and applied 3 coats of Max Factor Masterpiece mascara in Blackest Black.
  • Filled the brows with Bourjois Sourcils Pencil in Ebony and then softened them with a bit of MAC Dark Edge eyeshadow.
  • For soft pouted lips, I used a concealer and dabbed on some powder. Then applied a layer of glistening Clinique Full Potential Lips gloss in Luscious Lilac.
I hope you liked the look. Sharing the next look soon.
