Review : Guerlain Ombre Eclat 4 coleurs eyeshadow in ROSE BOISE

I wanted to begin reviewing some of the Guerlain products I got yesterday and wanted to begin with the most amazing eyeshadow quad I ever picked up in my entire collection. Its called Rose Boise (Boise in French meaning 'Wood'). Such a beautiful quad to create those quintessential soft glowing smokey eyes and look extremely rich and luxurious is the idea to represent this beautiful gem.

This is the star of the post and deserves that brightness and glow that the camera flash has imparted. Lets see the look and lets see the review for this quad then....................

This is a quad that can make even the dullest and tired looking eyes enliven again. The shades are really muted but when light catches they turn into this fairy like halo of color the makes a beautiful veil for the eyes. The quad is incredibly wearable and you can go from a soft day look to a smoldering smokey night time party look that I have done.

The eyes look quite divine and angelic and the simplicity of this quad is what is spelt as luxury. The powders are fine and a brush can pick up color just on a touch. The powders are soft and have a buttery soft quality to them. They are superbly blendable and literally melt on the eyes. Of course one would need an eye primer underneath to get the color stay put and look true to the pan (which is nice for the light colors that are). The shimmers are soft and finely milled and do not look sparkly like Urban Decay shades but are not as satiny as some of satin shadows of MAC.

The colors are very versatile and can be paired with other colors from other brands too create radiant looks too. Although the palette is a cool toned one, there is a bit of warmth added to all the colors making it easier for warmer toned people to apply them too. I suggest that this would be a lovely quad only for fair to medium tones and may spell ashy on olive or deeper skin tones so they need to use it with caution and mix n match.

The packaging is very luxurious and this gold encased eyeshadow quad is very luxurious to see and use. Although prone to finger prints may make it dirty but I think its a personal choice to have clean hands and take a bit of time to wipe the palette with a dry tissue. Such metallic cases do invite finger prints especially for anyone with oily hands (compared to dry ones) or moisturized ones thanks to the Lockard's Principle of Exchange law.

The colors are as follows:

Superior Left (SL), is a Soft shimmery light pink with a subtle silvery white frost. Its a perfect highlighting color in the quad.
Superior Right (SR), is a soft shimmery light pink with a touch of Midas. Its more warmer and rosier than the other one and is quite muted to be applied as a mid tone shade or even a contouring shade for fairer skin tones.
Inferior Left (IL), is a low shimmer satiny soft grey-beige-taupe. Due to the muted shimmer it can act as a base color and also can be used to soften the contours of the crease when applied with a darker color. It can also be used as a transition color. I also used this all over the eye lids to smoothen out and make a place for other colors.
Inferior Right, is the most amazing plummy bronze ever. Its the perfect shade for contouring and smoking out colors and mostly can be used for defining the eyes. Fairer ladies could also pull it out as an eye liner when mixed with a sealing gel or something.

This is how you achieve this beautiful rosewood colored eye. Start with an eyeshadow base like MAC Paint pot in Groundwork for the shadows to stay put. Apply the IL shade on the entire lid and softly diffuse it into the brow bone. Highlight the brow bone and inner corners with SL shade. Apply the SR shade all over the lid and blend into the crease. With IR shade apply on the outer corner, crease and also on the upper and lower lash lines for a smokey effect. Line and smudge a plum pencil like Bourjois 16hr Kohl and Contour shade in Prune and also line the inner rims of lower lids. For a more defined upper lid, apply Lancome Le Crayon Kohl in Noir. Curl lashes with MAC eyelash curler and apply Guerlain Le 2 De Guerlain Laque mascara on the lashes, upper and lower. Then for a most amazing effect, apply the lacquer shade on the lower lashes for a lovely glossy shine on the lashes.

Apply Guerlain 4 Eclats sculpting blush blush in Rose Plein Vent blush on the cheeks to create lovely rosy complexion and highlight softly with Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Rose. Go soft on the lips with Guerlain Rouge G lipstick in Berry or stronger with Rouge G lipstick in Geisha.
