Review : Maybelline Volume Express the FALSIES mascara and Hyperglossy liner

I picked up these beauties a few weeks back and putting them to test into various tutorials and also bridals, I have decided to come up with a lovely review that you all might like. Maybelline is always been a go to brand for all MUAs like me to get some amazing cutting edge products that can be used for bridals as well as photoshoots that are on budget. These products are bang on the buck and really do a wonderful job giving high quality results.....

So reviewing these lovelies Maybelline Volume Express the Falsies mascara and Maybelline Hyperglossy liner..........

What Maybelline has to say...............

VOLUME EXPRESS FALSIES MASCARA INR 350

Why You’ll Love ItFalse lash glam, instantly!
  • Patented Spoon Brush fans out lashes from corner-to-corner, while our Pro-Keratin formula instantly builds volume without clumping

  • Unique flexible wand helps to lift and separate lashes to provide the look of 300% more visible, fuller lashes, no gaps from any angle

  • Contact lens safe and ophthalmologist-tested

  • Waterproof, also available in Washable formula
Expert Tip• Hold brush with spoon side upwards against lashes and sweep from root to tip to fill in gaps and coat each lash   with Kera-Fiber formula. Repeat until false lash look is achieved. • Do not let dry between coats.

HYPERGLOSSY LINER INR 225

Why You’ll Love It
  • Intense Black Color with high shine finish
  • Easy to apply. Gives complete control for sleek or think bold line
  • 24HR wear. Smudge proof formula
Expert TipStart at the inner corner of lid and line along the lash line following the contour of your eye. For added drama, apply slightly heavier at outer corners.

I have to speak the truth though...........

Firstly I picked up the Waterproof version as I had to use it on a bride. Since it was a new mascara, I had to try it first to get a hand before creating any blunders there and I liked it so much that it went into my personal blog bag and stayed there for sometime. (I use a lot of hygienic practices while sharing mascaras btw so don't raise your brows!!) . The mascara gives these amazing looking soft tube like rubbery lashes as opposed to the horrendous sticky lashes which waterproof mascaras give. But the only problem was that the mascara is a pain to remove so bought the Washable version.

Now the washable version did not live upto the expectations I had from the waterproof version. I wont say it is bad but its not as great as what I wanted it to be. I need to apply several coats to get the effect what I used to achieve in just 2-3 coats of the waterproof mascara. But its ok as both mascaras still do a good job.

FORMULA AND THE BRUSH

As you all know, the effect of a mascara is shared 50-50 by the formula and the brush. Hence using a disposable mascara wand speaks only half of what the mascara actually does.

The formula is a shiny liquid, not very runny but beautifully concocted. It is quite intensely black (the have a mascara called Black Drama which is jet black) and quite malleable with a little longer drying time. Thanks to that you wont end up with clumps (clumps is more of a subjective error or a mascara dry up) which in case happen can be removed easily. The formula dries into a shiny coated film that is intensely black and gives gorgeous looking lashes. I prefer to curl the lashes before applying this mascara as the big brush does not allow to give definition. The formula does help lengthen and volumise the lashes where as the brush helps to give a curl that the mascara can hold onto.

The brush is a huge brush that has a C shape appearance. The crescent shape enables to add and hold the curl. The mascara wand has plastic bristles which are tough yet gentle and help the mascara coat on the lashes in a better manner. There is also a pivot about 1.5 cm away from the brush which makes it flexible (like tooth brush) and coat the teeniest lashes that you may have in the outer and inner corners. Without the formula, the mascara brush is a lovely violet color which is very pretty and enticing to look at. I call this mascara as TOOTH BRUSH for LASHES (LOL)...

Lets talk about the liner now..............

This is Maybelline's answer to the sleek and amazing Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in place liquid eye liner which could cost a bomb. Its a sleek black liner with a small liner brush that deliver a hyper-precise line and gives that wet looking feel even when it is dry. I used to expect this shine from Loreal's Carbon Gloss Super liner but this really performed better at just a cost of INR 225. The formula is a shiny liquid that dries to a vinyl finish.

For everyone's information this liner is not at all WATER RESISTANT or WATERPROOF so be careful if you are crying. This might leave hope and your lids and create tear trails. I do not recommend applying liner sealers as the vinyl finish may wear off. Will try it on an upcoming bride and see how it holds. Another option to this pretty liner is a bit pricier beauty from L'Oreal's new Super liner in Carbon Black Water resistant one but since I don't own it I prefer to withhold my comments till I get it.

Love the way this liner gives a vinyl finish. I have used Urban Decay Naked 2 palette on the lids and Uroparis no.41 false lashes.

This liner tends to eat up the lashes so its better to apply mascara before the liner. This is the Maybelline Falsies lashes washable version btw. The eyeshadows are from the Naked 2 palette again.

Just drew some leopard prints and some random lines over a Cleopatra-esque liner so calling it CLEOPARD look.

Anyways these were my views about the mascara and the liner. These products were purchased from Beauty Centre in Ghatkopar where I got 10% discount.

Hope you like the review. Please let me know in the comments.
Hope you have participated in the GIVEAWAY as the time is running soon.

Till then,

Ciao

    1. Thanks Eesha. I believe liquid liners should be applied by keeping the brush at and angle on 10 degrees fomr the lash line and not perpendicular to it. It does irritate as it goes on the lashes and makes them a mess. The mascara is good and waterproof is better.
