Review : Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick in Pinky Boop

Guerlain's Kiss Kiss Range of lipsticks give the smoothest feeling lips ever and I feel one should refrain from making any comparisons with any brands about it. Guerlain, the French luxury cosmetics house is the only brand I know that reformulates and brings in so many products at a time. If normally a company got in a wave of products (like Maybelline or so), Guerlain would bring in a tsunami. And each product is so covetable and amazing that one can stop the addiction.

BY THE WAY, I HAVEN'T MENTIONED IN MY GUERLAIN REVIEWS ABOUT THE FRAGRANCE IN EACH PRODUCT. EACH PRODUCT HAS A LUXURIOUSLY SMELLING FLORAL PERFUME WHICH SPEAKS ABOUT BOUDOIR AND ROYAL WAYS OF DRESSING (ALL THANKS TO GUERLAIN'S HERITAGE OF CREATING PERFUMES FOR THE ROYAL DYNASTIES). SO KINDLY NOTE THIS.

So reviewing the lovely Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick in Pinky Boop......a color that brings back the memoirs of best springs ever (even in winters)........let see....

PACKAGING

The Pinky Boop lipstick comes in a basic cardboard packaging with golden letters imprinted on it. There is a comprehensive list of ingredients and colors used to create this desirable lipsticks. The outer golden encasing reminds of some royal instrument or figurine and no one can miss a glance while Guerlain lies in the bag or vanity. Its a regular twist up lipstick with a lid, just all packaged in a plush packaging. Its so good, that I might retain it as a memoir to the beautiful lipstick it once carried.

FORMULA

Like all the Kiss Kiss Formulas, Pinky Boop has a lovely buttery texture. With the blend of expensive waxes and oils, the lipstick has an incredibly beautiful texture and I believe presence of liquid paraffin gives the lipstick that gloss like glide and consistency where as the other waxes keep the shape solid. Perfumed in a rosy floral smell, its delightful and freshens up the senses without lingering for long. The lipstick has a nice liquidy feel but unfortunately thats the reason it gets over a bit faster. The formula impart sheer to medium coverage in one application (depending on pressure applied while applying the lipstick) and has a glossy sheen that looks quite expensive in comparison to cheaper dupes. There are no botanicals or lip enhancing ingredients per se which is OK given the glam factor the lipstick has.

COLOR

Pinky Boop is a glossy bubble gum candy floss pink which is bright in the tube and equally beautiful in the lips. I liked the fact that the color is not as opaque as it looks in the tube and the sheer texture is what makes it an appealing color to many skin tones. Although normally I wouldn't touch a pink color like this but the subtle warmth in the color makes it much more wearable than being cool toned and this is quite a peculiarity of this lipstick. Pinky Boop has very very subtle micro shimmers that do not unnoticed but its the glossy texture that adds all that shine. On my busy mummy, the lipstick stayed for good 4-5 hrs after which left was soft pinky stain that did not look harsh or broken.

The only bad point I must say is that the packaging is prone to finger prints which can look quite untidy.

APPLICATION
  • One coat is enough to give a high impact shine that has sheer to medium coverage.
  • The lipstick applies a bit warmer when applied with brush due to the overseeing of the subtle warm undertones while blending the formula onto the lips.
  • Without lip liner it looks quite funky and playful while with lip liner it does add a sophisticated feel.
  • On cheeks I loved the glossy shine it gave and looks fantastic when there isn't any blush handy.
PRICE

1750 for 3.5 gm

This is a nice lipstick for occasional use when you want a pop of color to brighten the complexion. Minimal eye makeup, defined brows, soft focused highlighter on cheeks and Pinky Boop on the lips and you are sorted to enter spring.
