Review : Guerlain Noir G De Guerlain Exceptional Complete Mascara in Noir

I mustered the guts to pick up the most expensive mascara in the world and I can't say how amazing it. Guerlain's Noir G De Guerlain Exceptional Complete Mascara is not just a mascara, its a treatment for lashes and a treatment for being a makeup junkie. At a whopping price of 3300 INR it delivers the best of all what one can expect and happens to be the first mascara in the entire world that comes with a 'refill' so that you do not have depart with the fabulous casing and be happy as long as you can be.

So presenting the mascara of the year (for me), GUERLAIN NOIR G DE GUERLAIN EXCEPTIONAL COMPLETE MASCARA..............lets see..........

Sephora has lovely details of the Noir G mascara and I would love to share their information first;

What it is:A chic mirrored case with a refillable mascara.
What it does:This innovative mascara combines the extravagant luxury of a mirrored jewel case with a do-it-all formula that adds volume, lengthens, and curls. Black Pigments create perfectly defined eyes without any risk of smearing, smudging, or clumping. A fortifying agent helps to regenerate lashes by stimulating keratin for fortification and lash growth. Noir G goes one step further in creativity with its refillable applicator, making it convenient and easy to switch to a new wand as soon as you need it.
Suggested Usage:-Pull the mascara wand out slightly and flip open the case to reveal a hidden mirror that's perfect for applying your makeup.-Twist the wand at the end, and the brush appears ready to create exceptionally stunning lashes.
And the best part is that it comes with a refill which Guerlain sells separately for 1650 INR.

The outer packaging is cardboard one with all details of the mascara, ingredients et al described over it. The mascara is actually a lovely chic glossy metallic black casing which has a flip open mirror that opens when the mascara wand is pulled out. The case is quite heavy and if heavy spells luxurious then this is it. The mirror has 2 sides and one can get two different sides to gauge their mascara application. Inside the case is a refill for the mascara and a knob that is present on the lid which when pushed with a pen comes out in a click. I would not like to go in detail as I haven't tried this out.
The black casing is prone to finger marks but I have nothing to complaint about this since tissues are handy. I also recommend applying mascara with clean and washed hands if this is your concern.

The wand is quite thick and long and a bit spiky enough to coats each and every lash. The application method is simple wiggling and the mascara delivers exceptionally lovely results. The only con of the wand is, there's nothing very uncommon about it and nothing technologically advanced. Its a basic wand itself but excellent in performance.

Water, Paraffin, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Polybutene, Styrene/Acrylates/Ammonium Methacrylate Copolymer, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Vp/Eicosene Copolymer, Palmitic Acid, Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, Silica , Acacia Senegal Gum, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Phenoxyethanol, Trihydroxystearin, Parfum (Fragrance), Laureth-21, Tetrasodium Edta, Butylene Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Laureth-12 Sulfate, Caprylyl Glycol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Artemia Extract, Linalool, Citronellol, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Potassium Sorbate, Oleth-7, Benzyl Benzoate, Geraniol, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Limonen, Citral, Bht [+/- Mica, Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Ci 77491, Ci 77492, Ci 77499 (Iron Oxides), Ci 77266 (Black 2), Ci 77007 (Ultramarines), Ci 77288 (Chromium Oxide Greens), Ci 77289 (Chromium Hydroxide Green), Ci 77510 (Ferric Ferrocyanide)

The formula is the star of the mascara. It lengthens, curls, volumizes and defines and gives the most chubby, fluffy luscious lashes. It may be water resistant but not completely waterproof and can be a bit of pain to remove. The lashes feel soft and a bit rubbery as opposed to thick plastic like lashes. I felt that the mascara does not really dry on the lashes.

The formula is quite creamy and does weigh down the lashes a bit. It may not hold curl for everyone but it did for my lashes. The formula does feel quite weightless on drying and does not feel very heavy on lashes thence no drooping. It did open my eyes better (physically and mentally) and did have a lifting effect.

For my lashes, it did all what is was supposed to do and I must highlight that the lovely flowery fragrance in the mascara lingers and feels quite alluring to the senses. The formula has lash conditioning properties and is known to help lashes grow. I would not be able to make any claims as I haven't used the mascara much.

  • Just like the normal mascara application this nothing different.
  • For pictures and photography I always apply 3-4 coats to get these luscious looking lashes that you see in the pictures.
  • I wiggle the wand from the base of the lashes towards the tips. Then put a top coat from above the lashes to remove any clumps. Again wiggle from the lashes. After all this is done, with vertical hold of the wand, I separate the lashes and define them.
  • If there are clumps, I remove them literally with fingers and reapply the mascara.

Devoid of the price factor, I would always recommend this mascara. It gives a sense of luxury and glamour and you do get haute couture lashes. Of course I would not suggest this one for anyone with short and stubby lashes as they do not hold the curl very well.

Begin with UD Primer Potion. Then softly dust UD eyeshadow in Freestyle all over the lid. Highlight with UD eyeshadow in Kinky. Use UD Backdoor eyeshadow to create a definition on the outer corners and deepen the crease. On the lower lids apply a minuscule of UD Barlust eyeshadow to open up the eyes. Apply UD Asphalt on the outer corners to add brightness. Curl the lashes and tame the brows. Apply 2 coats of Noir G mascara and be happy for the rest of the day.

For an easy night time look, I used the Guerlain Les Ombre De Nuit eyeshadow quad. Apply the duck's egg blue over the entire lid. Line the lashes with Lancome Le Crayon Kohl in Noir  and smudge. Over the liner and the outer corner smudge the matte black from the quad. Dust a minuscule of black on the lower lids and blend it with the duck egg blue. In the inner corners and under the brow highlight with the silver pewter shade. Fill in the brows with VOV Eye brow pencil (cheap and excellent formula that I have ever seen) and comb them in place. Curl lashes and apply 3-4 coats of Noir G mascara.

You can notice how volumised the lashes look in the Night time makeup as opposed to defined and lengthened lashes in the Day time look.

PRICE : - Rs.3300 for the mascara with casing. Rs.1650 for the refill.

There are many dupes to this mascara when it comes to performance. But when we talk about the element of luxury this is unbeatable. Soon shall be reviewing another mascara from Guerlain (YES!!) called Le 2 De Guerlain lacque mascara.
