Hollywood movies inspired..........

My YSL Pure Chromatics Palette no.19 is amazing. Its so versatile and can be coupled with other eyeshadows to add light and dimension to the most mundane eye makeup.

This is a look inspired by old Hollywood movies with a little modernity of adding shimmers to create amazing dimensions to a flat smokey eye that is created with matte colors (none of these are matte though).

On Beauty Traveller, I strive to feature looks that can be easily be done at home and I hope I am doing a good job at that. Of all the looks I have done, I think this is the most mesmerizing and ethereal look ever. Do you feel so?

Anyways, lets see how to do the look.........

I have used 3 colors from this YSL Pure Chromatics eyeshadow quad no.19 which I bought from the YSL counter at the Juhu Shoppers stop.

Start with concealing the under eyes with a concealer. I cannot imagine a stunning eye makeup without a concealer in the surroundings.

Prime the lids with Urban Decay Primer Potion for the eyeshadows to stick and adhere better to the lids. It also makes the eye liner appear really dark and gives a play time that is more than a regular for the eye liner to dry.

Tame, comb and define the brows. I have used MAC Dark Edge eyeshadow and mixed with a black eyeshadow like Urban Decay Blackout to create a stark brow. This also balances the simple smokey eye. I like this lovely arched brow for a look like this.

Begin with tracing the upper lash line discreetly with Lancome Le Kohl waterproof in Raisin Noir. The nearer to the lash line the better effect it gives to define and darken the lash line.

With a pencil brush or with a smudger brush provided behind the pencil, smudge the harsh lines into thin smoke and haze.

Highlight the brow bone and inner corners with a shimmery white eyeshadow from the YSL quad. This is the best eyeshadow and in the purest form to catch light in the smokey darkness created.

Apply the shimmery taupe eyeshadow on the entire lid and blend it upto the crease to get that soft effect. Taupe is one of the eyeshadows that blend with the natural coloring of skin and so it looks quite amazing when applied. A little sparkle in a taupe brightens up the eye better.

On the outer corners and the crease apply a dark brown eyeshadow to add depth and smokiness to the lid. Also apply the dark brown slightly on the lash line to diffuse the black liner.

Apply Oriflame Kohl pencil in Nude in the inner rims of lower lids. Apply dark brown eyeshadow on the outer and inner third of the lower lid and then taupe on the middle of the lower lid. This does add a 3 D effect to the eyes.

Curl the lashes with MAC eyelash curler and then apply a mascara. I used my favorite and the most amazing mascara ever, the amazing Guerlain Noir  G Exceptionnel  Complete mascara in Noir.

When you do such looks, its better to keep the makeup monochromatic and easy and gorgeous. So a soft matte bronzer for contouring, a subtle beige shimmery highlight and of course a nude lip is what this look demands.
