Review : Guerlain Ecrin 4 Couleurs in Coup De Foudre

Before the Spring Season could arrive, brands got their wares to sell so that we are all prepped from Spring. Guerlain per se got a lovely collection of some of the most unconventional colors for Spring that one may not think of and paired them with scintillating shades of glosses and Rouge Automatique lipsticks. The core of this collection is the CILS D'ENFER mascara which I have got but wont open it for a while.

Can I say, this is the most 'beautiful' eyeshadow quad I have ever owned. No wonder its called Coup De Foudre which means 'Love at first sight'......The contrasting placement of colors and a palette that could sport a clean look or a smokey hue, this palette really does a lovely job and I am not surprised that so many bloggers talked about it. (Google and see the number of reviews).......

Anyways here's mine........

Coming straight to the colors as you will find lovely reviews and I shall be linking some of the most convincing and genuinely nice ones at the end of the post.
Coup de Foudre is described as exquisite shades of green, silvery patina, bronze-khaki, [and] vibrant coral. I would describe them as follows: -
  • Reptile (crocodile) khaki green
  • Silvery moss
  • Vibrant coral with a gold nuance
  • Pewter with mixed hither thither sparkle
All the shades are very amazingly pigmented except the 'pewter' being a bit less which is OK with me as I never would want it to be stark. Overall this is a well thought over palette and indeed the most talked one too. These colors would flatter 'brown' eyes the most as they amplify the color of the iris and give it a boost.

LOOKS

LOOK #1

This look is actually done using all the colors from the palette and encircling them around the eye. As seen the colors are very vivid and with my usual practice of applying the shadows on an eyeshadow primer and dabbing the colors on, I got a good coloring.

To get the look, prime the lids. Then begin with the Coral shade on the inner and middle one third of the lid. Then apply the Pewter on the outer corners and lash line and also blend in the crease. Highlight with Silvery Patina and smoke out the Olive Green on the lower lids. Finish off with oodles of Guerlain Noir G mascara and I put in a tiny false lash to make the lashes look fuller.

LOOK #2

This time I experimented with black and greens to see how the overall effect is.

I used the Olive Green over the entire lid and also on the lower lid. Lined the lash line and inner rims with Ultra black eye pencil. On the outer corners applied 'Black' eyeshadow from their Velours D'Or palette. To create a transition between green and black, apply the Pewter shadow. Then used the same Pewter shade in the crease. Highlight the brow bone with gold shimmer again from Velours D'Or palette. Applied the Silvery Patina in the inner corners and also on the centre of the lid to create a 3 D effect. Applied Bourjois Definition mascara. Shall be doing a tutorial on this pic soon.

Btw do have a look at some of the best reviews online..
I hope you love this quad and my review too....Do let me know in the comments.

Till then,

Ciao
