Along with Bleu De Paris palette, I also got the Dior 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette called Royale Khaki. As other Dior eyeshadows, this too is excellent in quality and have really fantastic eyeshadows. Only with the name of Khaki, I would have preferred to see some more greens in this quad but nonetheless this is a fantastic one.
When we run behind extremely pigmented eyeshadows, its these muted fairy like shimmers that actually make the eyes magical. I don't say that I hate pigmented shadows but personally I find them very difficult to control at times especially brighter colors. Which is why I stick to the textures of the eyeshadows rather than the pigmentation part. All this said, I believe that MAC and other brands that make simple loose pigments do a better job then as they can be layered.
Dior's Royal Khaki is a delight to use and work with and all the shades are wearable. There is something unique about the textures and even though the colors are not all that extraordinary, the ensemble of this palette is beautiful.
So lets have a look at the colors followed by the tutorial....
The quint comprises of : -
- a satiny black with a deep grey tone
- a silvery grey shimmer - color of the rain clouds
- a satiny dirty khaki
- a light gold mustard shimmer
- a frosty white
The shadows have a lovely feel to them and although they adhere quite well to a primed lid, the shimmers can cause a lot of fallouts.
Conceal the under eyes to neutralize the under eye darkness and bring light to the shadowy areas.
Prime the lids with an eyeshadow primer to make the eyeshadows stick better.
Highlight the brow bone and inner corners with the frosty white shade.
Apply Bourjois Clubbing liner in Disco Ball in the inner rims to brighten the eye. I have used the same liner in my Bleu de Paris tutorial.
With the lightest hand apply the black eyeshadow in the crease just to define.
On the entire lid apply the silvery grey shimmer. A lighter hand gives a translucent floated feel to the eyeshadow and creates bedazzling effects.
On the outer corner and in the crease apply the satiny khaki shade. This translates really light on the crease which does not make it suitable for skin tones beyond medium.
Smoke out the khaki eyeshadow on the lower lids. Adding a touch of black makes its a perfect shade.
To keep the eyes looks softer, with an angled brush apply the black eyeshadow gently on the lash line. This technique is used by Charlotte Tilbury in one of her videos.
Curl the lashes and tame the brows. Apply 2-3 coats of Bourjois Volume Glamour MAX definition mascara to complete the look.
Finish of the look by highlighting and contouring the face. Even though this look is very bright on camera, in reality it has this lovely airy summery feel. When paired with a bright lipgloss in corals and oranges, this makes a perfect summery look.
