Review : Guerlain Rose Aux Joues Blush in Pink Punk

If someone has said that 'Beauty lies in the eye of the Beholder', I would change it to 'Beauty lies in the eye of a Guerlain holder"...........and I mean it. I literally shivered when I got my hands over Guerlain's Rose Aux Joues blush. This duo blush is simply heavenly and my mother has given her approval on it.

Lets have a looksie.........

What Sephora has to say?

What it is:
A blush duo that allows you to shade, color, and sculpt.

What it does:
Shade, color, and sculpt with Rose Aux Joues, a must-have for all women who are eager to have fun with color. Guerlain’s eye-popping blush duo offers vibrant color pairings that allow you to re-invent your beauty routine every day. One vibrant shade adds a pop of color to the cheekbones while its smaller counterpart can be mixed or used for a striking contrast.

PACKAGING

Guerlain keeps it simple and sophisticated when it comes to packaging. A silver printed black box encloses this golden cased blush beautifully packed in a black velvet sleeve. It spells LUXURY. The casing is light metal with embossed Guerlain logo and is very shiny and of course prone to finger prints too. The clamshell design opens up to a duo blush and soft natural bristled angled blush brush provided in it. The mirror in the casing is high quality and very very clear to view at. Must say Guerlain spends a lot of packaging and create some of the most iconic ones.

FORMULA

Pink Punk is finely milled blush that is very very soft to touch and very pigmented. The pigments do not go patchy on application and imaprt a soft radiant glow that does spell sophistication. It has a bit powdery texture compared to other blushes from the other brands, but that is not a negative pointer. The main advantage of this blush is that it can be layered to get the desired intensity, making the application foolproof. The brush provided with the blush is very soft and great tool for touch ups on the go.

The blushes are matte with no hints of shimmer in them. But on application they do not go flat but create a lovely glow along with a flush of color. The fragrance of these blushes is very enticing and is one of the plus points of getting it. It smells like Violets with nuances of Bulgarian Rose which is so mesmerizing.

COLOR

There are 2 colors provided. The darker color which is a muted mauve rose color acts as a contouring color (depends on the skin coloring) while the lighter color is a bright matte pop of pink with a subtle lilac tone to it. Some would call the pink pop color as raspberry color (I won't). I apply the dusty mauve rose on the cheek bones to contour and then apply the pink pop on the apples of cheeks to get a healthy flush. This is the Swish and Pop Technique of Charlotte Tilbury and it works with formulas like this.

I loved the pink pop color the most. When layered over a matte bronzer like Guerlain's  4 Seasons Bronzer, it gives a radiant healthy sun kissed natural looking flush (as if exercised).

I use my Shiseido Blush Brush or Scott Barnes Contour brush to apply the dusty mauve color on the cheek bones. For the pink pop color, I use the Real Techniques Multi task brush as it distributes the color evenly without any streaks.
