Review : Guerlain Meteorites Perles Du Dragon

How happy I am to review this precious Guerlain Perles Du Dragon and how thankful I am to my bestest friend Jigisha who was kind enough and equally amazing to gift this to me for my birthday. While my other friend just asked and never gifted (LOL), Jigisha does have an enormous heart. Can't thank her enough!!

Meteorites is a classique. They are what Guerlain is known for in the world of makeup. They are what inspire Guerlain. And everytime there's a beautiful story behind their creation. I have heard that these balls are rolled by hand and there are a very few artisans (that's what I'd call them) who make these in the heart of France. Other brands seem to make them with machines.

Perles Du Dragon are so beautiful and iridescent. They create that veil of mystical light on the face and transform the skin so beautifully. Lets see how.........

I got this interesting information from Saks Fifth Avenue website -

Perles Du DragonNamed for Year of the Dragon and to pay tribute to this mythical animal, a symbol of the emperor of China, whose primary source of power lay in a pearl. The harmony of 6 shades of pearls in an intense, iridescent monochrome palette is perfectly tailored to the holiday season. Like nighttime jewels, it cloaks the face in incredible radiance: pale pink and beige even out the complexion, white and gold illuminate, while plum and rosewood brighten areas of shadow and erase fatigue as the night goes on. Made in France.

 PACKAGING

Perles Du Dragon Meteorites come in this amazing black rounded cylinder with a beautiful golden carved Guerlain flower on the lid. The tin container contains these beautiful fragrant iridescent balls of powdered magic that impart a lustrous glow on the skin. There is a rounded sponge provided but I would not know its use more than a protective layer to prevent the balls from breaking (or bursting...LOL). The black and gold has a touch of the 'Orient' to it. Inspired from chinese opera, Liu - one of the Guerlain fragrances and the year of the Dragon, Guerlain's holiday collection 2012 was simply a divine intervention.

INGREDIENTS

FORMULA

Meteorite pearls are soft luminous balls of talc and other minerals that create an iridescent veil of color on the face. The idea is to swivel the brush over all these balls and they deliver a little bit of powder and the mixture helps creating a uniform glow on the face. Being a 'Finishing Powder', these are not used for setting foundations but just for adding an ethereal glow on the face. Use them on face and decollete and they make you glow like anything.

The powder is shimmery with a smooth texture and lot of iridescent pearlised pigments. The powder spreads uniformly and there is a luxurious finish to it without looking overtly glittery like a disco ball. I use the Guerlain Powder Brush no.11 to apply them on the highlight points of the face for a luminous glow. The pearls are fragrant and its enticing when you open the box.

COLOR

There are 6 types of pearls that helps create that signature Guerlain glow.

  • Pale Pink and Beige to even out the complexion
  • White and Gold to illuminate the complexion
  • Plum and Rosewood to brighten areas of the shadow and erase fatigue
Although I have not seen all of this as the powder is barely visible, I love the effect of these. In general, Guerlain's Meteorites are collector's items and good for someone who loves a touch of luxury and look dainty. If you have that boudoir lifestyle, then this item will be the centre piece of your table. Its one of those products that when applied make you fall in love with your own-self.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

This is a limited edition and not easily available. Although I was given a gift, these maybe available at some of the Guerlain counters if you are lucky. The Perles du Dragon are sold for 2050 INR (YES!!!) for 25 gms.

Hope you liked the review. Do let me know in the comments.

Till then,
