Review : NYX Xtreme Lip Cream

I am writing this review after eons of using this fabulous product and they are almost getting over now....These Xtreme Lip creams are really amazing on pigmentation, gives a beautiful rosebud lip and is perfect for a long lasting finish. They have some incredibly wearable colors and lets get to know a bit more of these hidden gems.

Xtreme Lip Cream is a liquid lipstick that glides amazingly and stays put for quite a while (at least 3 hrs on my models and clients) and creates an appearance of healthy moisturized lips that do not look extremely made up. Its high on coverage and opacity and a smidgen of a size creates a wonderful effect.

I wasn't aware about the NYX Xtreme Lip Creams until they went on 50% off at the Beauty Centre (due to some distribution issues and legalities which no one may like to know). They came in an array of colors and it seemed that my search for a nude pink and a bright strawberry pink ended here.

NYX says ............

Beautify your lips with this velvety rich lip cream that provides extreme pigmentation with a silky and glossy finish. This lip cream is a hybrid of lipstick and lip gloss with intense pigmentation all-in-one. Complete your head-turning look with the variety of luscious colors.

There is nothing great about it and these come opened. The perfect way to find out whether the lip cream has been opened or swatched is to check the rims of the plastic opening. If its stained then the product was opened. Anyways. The wand applicator is nice and does pick up a glob of product enough to apply on one lip at a time.

Xtreme lip cream is a full on opaque highly pigmented oil based lipstick that sticks to the lips with a hold and almost perfected lips. The lipstick does not look like a cheap vinyl finish for the amount of money you pay for it. Of course it does have a drug store product smell and weirdly smells of the Castor oil which is the primary base for this lipstick. The formula is thick and goopy and yet has a great slip on the lips. I love the hassle free applicator which does not need an additional lip brush to add on. The waxes and pigments adhere better to the skin while the oils are slightly moisturizing and do not hamper the slip of the product. It does contain conditioning Vit E (which is not a big deal though).

I have got 4 colors viz,

  1. Strawberry Jam
  2. Pinky Nude
  3. Buttery Nude
  4. Absolute Red

Buttery Nude is a lovely light beige with pink rosy tones. The color glides on smoothly and picks up the tone of the lips for most of my clients on the lighter side. I generally tend to mix this color with another one to mute the darker colors and add a flesh tone to them. Very versatile and by far my favorite from the other four.

Pinky nude is a mid tone neutral pink (with no cool or warm tones) and is perfect day wear color. It mostly looks amazing on lighter and medium skin tones and I use this color to alter or dilute a darker tone and create a custom made color.

This is a bright red with strong blue tones to it. It does translate a bit more maroon on the lips and adds a touch of lush to an already created matte red/berry lip without making it look skimpily glossy. It adds a beautiful velvety texture to the lip.

This is a bright geranium pink that completes a wide spectrum of looks, from an amped up natural makeup look to an evening plum or purple smokey eye. A slight blue tone adds a brightness to the smile and makes the teeth appear less yellow.

NYX Xtreme Lip Creams are available at various locations in India and officially sold at Sephora stores in Delhi. You can have a look at some online sites which may still carry them.

  1. Pinky and strawberry looks yummy

  2. For some strange reason, I've never been fond of NYX as a brand. Dont know why. These lip creams are tempting me to try them out though. Esp Buttery Nude and Pinky Nude.
