The Chocolate Bar Vs Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar - A Too Faced Review

READ FURTHER.......................

SEMI SWEET CHOCOLATE BAR

Encased in an old school tin compass box with a chocolate shaped design, the semi sweet chocolate bar is a must have for a makeup artist or/and aficionado alike. The chocolate fragrance comes from the addition of cocoa powders and is as realistic as the smell of chocolate. Its invigorating and lightens the mood while application. There are total 16 eyeshadows with two bigger sizes for highlighting. I use them not only for the eyes but for the face as well and the matte one is amazing for a quick touch up.

Indulge your beauty craving with 16 antioxidant-rich, cocoa powder-infused matte and shimmer shades of warm caramels, deep mochas, bronzy chocolate hues and a pop of sugared blueberry.

Inspired by the success of Too Faced's original cocoa-infused Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Collection, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar is a deeper, warmer version of their best-selling palette.

The Semi-Sweet Chocolate experience begins as soon as you open the palette and the smell of sweet chocolate envelopes you. This indulgent palette features 16 antioxidant-rich, cocoa powder-infused shadows in matte and shimmer shades of warm caramels, deep mochas, bronzy chocolate hues and a pop of sugared blueberry. Includes Too Faced's signature how-to Glamour Guide with three looks to get you started.
The colors in this picture from the Too Faced site are completely different from the actual palette.

The colors are as follows :-
  •  Licorice - a deep matte black
  • Coconut Creme - a soft light beige that is warm and matte
  • Nougat - a matte medium peach with a neutral touch
  • Truffled - a satiny medium dark brown with a slightly warm red tone
  • Hot Fudge - a frosty rich dark greyish brown with golden and bronze shimmers
  • Cocoa chili - a satiny dark warm brown. It does have a golden shimmer that is almost untraceable when applied
  • Pink Sugar - a transparent pinkish golden overcoat that is very glittery and sheer wet finish
  • Puddin' - a matte greyish brown that is perfect for filling brows in most skin colorings
  • Blueberry Swirl - a teal blue that is satiny and slightly metallic with black tones. Quite a complex color that looks way lighter than it appears
  • Peanut Butter - a perfect orangey brown that is matte and perfect. Its a muted medium orange more than anything and does not look like peanut butter as the name says.
  • Frosting - a classy shimmery bronze
  • Rum raisin - a metallic shimmery purple brown
  • Mousse - a light medium matte brown that is a classic transition color
  • Caramel - a shimmery copper that glazes on the eye lid
  • Bon bon - a medium copper with a redder touch compared to Caramel
  • Butter Pecan - a frosted light gold with a hint of peach

CHOCOLATE BAR

The Chocolate Bar experience begins as soon as you open the palette and the smell of sweet chocolate envelops you. The eye shadows are pigmented with pure, antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and includes 16 matte and shimmer shades of natural browns, delicate pinks and luscious plums. Includes Too Faced signature how-to Glamour Guide with three looks to get you started.

More To Love:
Too Faced Co-Founder and Creative Director Jerrod Blandino was inspired to combine the power of antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and makeup while having a chocolate facial and learning about the benefits of cocoa at a Hawaiian spa. Based on this inspiration we created our best-selling bronzer Chocolate Soleil and then Milk Chocolate Soleil and have now added the Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Palette.

The shades include : -

  • Milk Chocolate - muted brown matte which is a perfect transition shade and mostly used one in my palette.
  • White Chocolate - creamy beige matte that is good for highlighting and also for setting cream eyeshadows.
  • Triple Fudge - deep grey brown matte with a touch of satin
  • Salted Caramel - soft fawn peachy matte and has a warm whisper
  • Semi-Sweet - medium brown matte and is cool enough for a brow color too.
  • Strawberry Bon Bon - soft pale pink matte and I hate this shade.
  • Gilded Ganche - dark espresso with gold sparkle for a beautiful smokey eye.
  • Black Forest Truffle - plum chocolate with golden sparkle for a really festive look.
  • Cherry Cordial - deep plum brown with purple sparkle to create a plum smokey eye.
  • Candied Violet - deep plum brown with purple sparkle that looks cool. I use it with fingers as there is a lot of fall out.
  • Marzipan - rose gold pearl and a beautiful highlight.
  • Amaretto - deep pinky bronze which is quite muted and tawny.
  • Hazlenut - deep pinky bronze that is warm and lustrous
  • Creme Brulee - antique gold peal which spells intense metallic.
  • Haute Chocolate - medium bronze brown that I use to soften deep shadows.
  • Champagne Truffle - ballet slipper pink pearl highlighter that looks grey toned to me.

THE COMPARISON

There is a lot of difference between the palettes. While the earlier Chocolate Bar did have neutrals and cooler tones, the Semi sweet is much more wearable for warmer complexions. I personally like the Semi sweet chocolate bar as the colors are much more user friendly and easier to apply. While the Chocolate bar does have a lot of fall out especially in the glittery shades, the latter has comparatively less fall out and more buildability. Both the eyeshadow palettes have softly milled true color eyeshadows but the semi sweet chocolate has more buttery ones that apply smooth without dragging.

Advantages of the Chocolate Bar
  1. Festive colors that go with almost all festive occasions.
  2. Cooler tones amp up the looks.
  3. The metallic tones are really pigmented and beautiful.
  4. Lot many cooler and neutral transition tones for blending.
Advantages of the Semi Sweet Chocolate Bar
  1. Its more of a day palette.
  2. The colors are muted and pretty long lasting with buttery textures.
  3. The highlighters provided are universal and can be used on the cheeks as well.

Which one of them is beautiful? Its totally a matter of choice and mine is the Semi sweet chocolate bar. Its fantabulous..................
